From the blog
ASSBIKE LIVIN comes these great pictures of the Hairspray set along Dupont St:

I also found a picture of the "WYZT Broadcasting" building before its 1960s re-dress.
To most Toronto folk it is simply the "Monolino Typesetting" building, which from what I understand has not been a printing factory in
quite sometime.
In the late 80's to early 90's the interior was used to film a Canadian Drama series called "Street Legal."

Hairhopper

Know Your Hair:
*Hairspray's budget, to be in the $75 million range.
*Jerry Mitchell and Jack O'Brien bowed out as co-directors (Daily Variety, June 21, 2005) when the film's schedule was pushed back.
Rob Marshall was offered the job, who ironically once planned to choreograph and direct the stage version of "Hairspray" before he took "Chicago." When Marshall declined to do the film, 15 other directors were interviewed before Adam Shankman was chosen.
*Adam Shankman and Marc Shaiman are no strangers! For 15+ years they have worked together on various projects such as:
"Addams Family Values," "Heart and Souls," "George of the Jungle," "The Out-of-Towners" and "The Wedding Planner."
*Christopher Walken, Allison Janney, Broadway's original 'Amber,' Laura Bell Bundy and Movie Musical 'Amber,' Brittany Snow all appeared on the Television Soap "The Guiding Light."
*'Becky,' Tabitha Lupien is no stranger to John Travolta- she played his daughter 'Julie' in the film "Look Who's Talking Now."
* Screenwriter Leslie Dixon also wrote the screenplay for the original "Look Who's Talking" starring John Travolta.
*Hayley Podschun debuted in the National Tour of 'Hairspray' as Tammy, while Jesse Weafer appeared in both the Toronto and National Touring Company of 'Hairspray' as IQ- they will reprise their roles for the film.
